Break out your Sunday go to meeting finest, and your bib overalls too, because it is coming up on time to celebrate Kentucky.

Louisville KY's, Kentucky Derby Festival commences with the "They're Off! Luncheon" on Friday, April 11. Held at the Galt House East, TV personality Deborah Norville will be the featured speaker. The event is sponsored by Norton Healthcare with Bluegrass Family Health listed as a contributing sponsor.

This year's Kentucky Derby Festival boasts over seventy events leading up to "The greatest two minutes in sports" our beloved Louisville Kentucky Derby. Many of Louisville's health insurance providers will be sponsoring events. April 24 and 25 Bluegrass Family Health Insurance is sponsoring the Bluegrass Family Health Running Wild Expo. April 24 will also see Humana Health Insurance's Humana Derby Festival Foundation Academic Challenge. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield health insurance will sponsor a Healthy Lifestyles Showcase on Monday, April 28.

Not nearly as elegant, but certainly as much fun, Pikeville KY rolls out the red carpet for our annual Hillbilly days on April 17. For those of you who don't know, Pikeville's Hillbilly Days is the second largest festival in Kentucky, nudged out "by a nose" by the Kentucky Derby Festival in Louisville. (Forgive the pun...I just couldn't resist)

So what's all this got to do with Kentucky Insurance?

Well, we wanted to acknowlege our Kentucky Health Insurance carriers who support various events across the bluegrass. As for Charlie Pinson Insurance, we will be modifying our office hours to accommodate some of the events. And besides, when the redbuds blossom, the thunder of hoofs fills the air, and this insurance agent's thoughts turn to fancy hats and peep-toed shoes...ya just got to take a minute to thank God we live in Kentucky!
